Job Description:

  • Provide synchronous and asynchronous teaching instruction to Grade K - 5 students in a remote learning environment.

  • Prepare lessons and assignments.

  • Evaluate student performance and administer examinations.

  • Communicate with parents/teaching coaches regarding student progress.

  • Collaborate with other teachers to ensure a cohesive learning experience for the students.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and refinement.

  • Record student absences and report progress to administration on a weekly basis.

  • Excellent communication skills verbally and in writing.


Duties:

  • Significant contribution to the organization and content of our Quran and Islamic Studies curriculum

  • Staying up to date with highly recognized islamic studies curriculum standards around the world (e.g Azhar, etc.) and ensuring our Islamic Studies curriculum (PK to Adult) is using the best available methods for teaching islamic studies.

  • Mentoring junior teachers and teaching assistants in the delivery of Quran and Islamic Studies instruction.

  • Serve as the Quran and Islamic Studies expert for the organization.

  • Lead the after-school Hifz program for interested students.

  • Provide synchronous and asynchronous remote instruction (per the curriculum) for the following subjects both in the full-time school and the weekend school:

    • Arabic

    • Quran

    • Islamic Studies

    • Life Skills


Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Arabic, Islamic Studies or related field

  • Certified “Ijazah” in the Quran

  • Able to teach the proper Tajweed of the Holy Quran

  • Ability to understand the meaning of the quran (in Classical Arabic), and explain it to an English speaking audience. This will require strong command of both Arabic and English to be able to successfully convey the “deeper” meaning in a very simple language that native English speakers can easily understand and relate to.

  • Ability to cross-reference verses of the Quran and authentic “Sahih” hadith to prove and provide references for the subject being taught or to answer difficult questions.

  • 8+ years experience teaching Quran and Islamic Studies in a classroom setting. An advanced degree can be substituted for teaching experience.
